The French National Museum of Natural History (MNHN), founded in 1793, is a prominent scientific institution under the jurisdiction of the ministries in charge of Higher Education, Research and the Environment. Its mandate includes scientific research, collection development and maintenance, expertise, dissemination of knowledge and education in the Natural and Human Sciences.
Since 1802, MNHN started publishing scientific writings. Today, it publishes original research papers and promotes its collections through three specialized journals and six collections of Monographies in Botany, Earth Sciences, Zoology, Natural Heritage, Human Sciences and History of Science. The Scientific Publications department is responsible for the scientific evaluation and technical monitoring of projects, as well as the distribution, storage and sale of published material.
